A Portable stove is a stove specially designed to be portable and lightweight, as for camping.

The division of portable stoves into several broad categories is based on the type of fuel used in the stove: stoves that use solid or liquid fuel that is placed in the burner before ignition; stoves that use volatile liquid fuel in a pressurised burner-tank combination; bottled-gas stoves and gravity-fed spirit stoves, which have priming pans.

How to Refill a Butane Candle Lighter

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Candle lighter (at room temperature)
  • Butane gas refill (at room temperature)
  • Small head screwdriver or letter opener
Step1
Remove the decorate knob from the end of the handle.
Step2
Air in the tank of the lighter will prevent butane gas from entering the tank during the refill. To release air from the lighter tank, while holding the handle of the lighter away from your face, use a small headed screwdriver or a letter opener to push the refill valve. You will hear a brief release of hissing air. If you hear no hissing sound, that’s okay; it just means there was no air in the tank.
Step3
Shake the butane gas refill. Holding the lighter vertical with the valve/handle UP, press the stem of the butane filler onto the valve of the lighter. The pressure in the butane filler will force butane into the lighter. Allow the lighter to fill for 5 seconds.

You should hear no sound as the lighter’s tank fills. If you do hear hissing, then stop and reposition the butane filler onto the valve of the lighter.
Step4
Before you replace the decorative end cap, test the lighter by igniting it. You can adjust the flame using the control on the end of the handle. There should be plus ( + ) and minus ( - ) signs to show which direction to twist the control to raise or lower the flame. Make the adjustment without having the flame lit. The control may be a twist left or right knob, or it may require the tip of a screwdriver to adjust the height of the flame. If it is necessary to adjust the flame, make a slight twist of the knob, and then ignite the lighter again to see if the flame adjusted to the height you want it.
